Disqus Sucks Dick

I am beyond frustrated with this stupid Disqus commenting system, people. It either prevents me from commenting at all or attempts to reveal my real name. Which I never in a million years authorized it to do or entered into any boxes connected with Disqus. It simply accessed my private data without my permission and is now attempting to make it known to the world.

Recently, it has become fashionable among bloggers to adopt the stupid sucky Disqus as their commenting system. I, for one, have not been able to find a way to publish comments with Disqus in the format I prefer (one which would link to my blog, so that people know who I am and the blog gets promoted.) This means that I will not be commenting on blogs that have adopted this policy any more.

My advice is: if you thinking about adopting Disqus, think again. I can promise that you will lose commenters. One has to be really desperate to post a comment to subject oneself to the aggravation of this nasty system.

  1. Hi Clarissa,

Sorry to hear you’ve been experiencing problems. I have a couple questions to try and discover the root of your problem.

    What browser are you using?
How are you logging in to comment?
Do you get any errors whilst commenting?

    Best,

    Giannii

    1. Wow, that was fast. I use Google Chrome. I would like to log in with the WordPress ID associated with this blog. I only managed to comment with Disqus a single time, during which my real name was revealed. Since then, I haven’t been able to leave a comment through it.

      1. Hi Clarissa,

Currently we do not have a login option for wordpress.com and that’s probably why you encountered difficulty with it. We do other other ways to leave a comment with an email, and name; twitter, facebook, google, and many more.

If you have any other issues just let us know at disqus.com/support

        Thanks,

      2. Actually, Disqus’ suckiness is browser-independent. I won’t use it on my blog, because I hate having to deal with it. It has repressed countless potential blog comments.

    1. ” there is no real entity at all comparable in power and influence to the American religious wrong”

      – I’ve been trying to hammer this idea in for the entire duration of the course. No, Spain’s PP is not the equivalent of the US Republicans, and Socialists are not the same thing as Obama and the US Democrats. In the last week of class, this got so bad that I even started speaking in English which I never do in class. It was really getting to me. I hope that if I managed to achieve anything is the idea that I repeated until I was blue in the face: The US Left is Spain’s right. And the US Right doesn’t even exist in Spain (save for 2-3 fanatics.)

  2. I have never used it because I intuitively knew that what you say about it is true.
They are part of the left wing bias to controll all media, IMHO. Thanks for confirming ALL I felt about this drag on free speech. Probably a George Soreass backed snake in the grass.

  3. I agree 100%. I don’t comment on sites powered by Disqus. I don’t like how it centralize my opinions and I don’t accept their conditions.

  4. There is no free speech on Disqus. “All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others”. A proclamation by the pigs who control the government in the novel Animal Farm, by George Orwell.

You need to look no further than to my blocking on TMZ for my daring to comment on behalf of O.J. Simpson. Even though my comments involved the reiteration of facts within the public domain. While every other post of his personal vilification was allowed to stand.

  5. I totally agree. Basically, to comment on a site with Disqus, you have to agree to let them capture, distribute, and o whatever else they like with your comments and personal data. Why should anyone agree to this nonsense, which is all for their benefit and not ours!? So I for one will never use such as site.

    1. I don’t like that to leave a comment on some of them one has to agree to constant e-mail updates which clutter your intake box.
When I leave comments I sort of do so “hit-and-run” style. Just say what I think at the time and move on.

  6. You are correct! Disqus sucks in a variety of ways. They have banned me twice, and have even alerted other sites to ban me as well. They don’t want any postings that support God and family, and the quickest way to get banned is to mention God or Bible verses. It is no wonder that the internet is inundated with liberal progressive miscreants of Satan, who will accept anything deemed socially acceptable and politically correct, and if you mention refusing the mRNA vaccine for religious reasons, you are labeled as an anit-vaxer.
