Now This Is Real Child Abuse

Can somebody explain to me why this bunch of nasty, disgusting pedophiles is not in jail?

Officials from Rosemount High School are apologizing for a so-called “prank” that will almost surely lead to a lifetime of awkward family gatherings and thousands of hours of therapy for the students involved. At an end-of-the-year pepfest last week, a group of winter sports captains were blindfolded in the school gym in front of their peers, and told they would be receiving a kiss from a “special someone.”

These poor kids reasonably assumed they were about to make out with their classmates. But the assembly organizers had something else in mind: their parents. Footage of the assembly shows a scene that would make even Sigmund Freud cringe. Dads kissing daughters. Mothers kissing sons. And these are not just innocent pecks on the lips. The parents are intimately lip-locking their children for several seconds. One even progresses to rolling around on the gym floor. In another instance, a mother moves her son’s hand south so he’s grasping her butt.

You can watch the entire horrifying scene of abuse here. I didn’t watch it because I would be too traumatized by this horror.

Once again, why isn’t anybody taking action and removing children from these incestuous freaks? Just imagine what horrors these so-called parents have been inflicting on poor kids while they were growing up.

  1. THIS is child abuse? Not at all like setting up a younger kid for public humiliation; that is just good clean fun. Thanks for the clarification, Clarissa.

Sorry, I see a sick continuum here.

  2. Abuse or not that’s icky. I’d barf, totes.

I watched it for the team. It’s shaky and short but it mainly looks like deep smooches (no tongue?) ‘cept maybe for that mom and son rolling on the floor, god knows where that’s going. Thank god, it’s nothing like that couple in the Virgin Diaries wedding clip where they were trying to eat each others’ heads. The video cuts off just after the reveal so the only reaction shot is one guy throwing down his blindfold (anger? disgust? how do you describe the feeling after you realize you just accidentally made out with your mom?) and play-punching a buddy in the face (not a full-on deck, just a kind of, “you dick,” sort of thing) and shambling around with a weak grin for a few seconds.

    1. “Deep smooches” between an adolescent and a parent are very likely to mess up the poor kid’s sexuality for good. If a parent has no undretanding of boundaries, that means those boundaries have been consistently disrespected from the child’s early age.

      1. If only Jimmy Kimmel had done a segment where kids get an early xmas gift and surprise it’s a frenching session with mom and dad then you and Isabel might get along for once.

I have to go take a shower after writing that.

      2. I know. I just keep imagining how I would have felt if I took off my blindfold and found myself starting at my father…..especially if the kiss aroused me. And teenagers are so hormonal that it’s very likely that the kisses did arouse them. HOW DID ANYONE THINK THIS WAS A GOOD IDEA???!!!!!

  3. I just saw it too. Totally totally disgusting. Though like Helena said, it could have been worse I suppose. The mother who made her son grab her ass was particularly demented. I can’t even imagine it that happened to me. It would haunt me forever. For some reason it reminds me of purity balls. Do you know about that perversion?????? So incredibly gross.

  4. Jesus, were the parents in on this? I was under the impression that both the kids and their parents were blindfolded.

  5. I have now forced myself to watch the video. And it was a struggle to keep down my breakfast after that. What are these people thinking???

Thank God, I have normal parents who’d never do that.

        1. Legally, they are minors. They have no way of escaping their abusers and they are completely at the mercy of those abusers. They shouldn’t be sexually assaulted by adults. Such assault should not be organized by the school and imposed upon students against their will and without their knowledge.

    1. Well to some extent, I don’t think the age mattters. I am well into my adulthood and I would FREAK out and lose my mind if my father did that to me. Besides, incest is illegal at any age.

It’s pretty screwed up, but what do you propose? Should these “kids” be taken away by the government? Parents placed in jail?

I don’t know I do think it’s in very poor taste and pretty disgusting but I would not put this together with child abuse or child sexual abuse.

    1. The reaction that child abuse is only abuse if it is serious enough that parents should be separated from their children or sent to jail is grossly counterproductive. There is a gray area in child abuse, and there should be a gray area in the repercussions — some way of ensuring this sort of awful behavior is punished to the extent of its awfulness.

      1. Exactly! If these parents knew there will be an investigation, they would think twice before engaging in this sort of thing. It’s the realization of total impunity that makes them do this.

  7. I saw a variation of this when I was a kid in high school. In that instance, they substituted the girlfirend’s mothers for the girlfriends. Given the horror of the story you relate, I wonder if the story has been mis-represented, and something similar to my youth is what really happened.

If this really happened, I agree with you: criminal charges are in order.

Not necessarily. Most high school seniors are 15 or 16. That’s not a child in my book.

…I’m pretty sure it’s more like seventeen or eighteen…. Freshmen and sophomores are more likely to be fifteen and sixteen. The younger juniors might also be sixteen. And I’d still probably call them children. Being a teenager doesn’t mean they’re adults.

  9. So what is the joke supposed to be? That one never really leaves the parental nest? That one tries to do so, but necessarily fails in any case? Wasn’t this Freud’s joke, too — that women always end up marrying their fathers? It seems to me that this trend in conservative humour has a very long history.

this doesn’t make sense, nor does Clarissa’s comment about me accusing her of having an “immigrant agenda” or that I would disagree that today is Friday (in other words that I am just disagreeable). It is always a sign that someone is probably right when people have to grasp at straws in this way to try insult them.

I actually think the parents who sent videos of their humiliated children in to Jimmy Kimmel are exactly the same kind of people who would participate in this high school prank, which I agree should be prosecuted as sexual abuse. The organizers and the parents should both be prosecuted.

And I wasn’t just talking about Kimmel, I was referring to the whole trend and gave a specific example of child abuse on America’s funniest videos, which should also be illegal.

If my mother did that to me, I’d have her arrested on principle.

I have a teenager, and if I did this I’d have myself arrested on principle. ICK ICK ICK!

  12. As an example, I mentioned the acquaintance who posted that Halloween video to Facebook, who I defriended. Her status said “I wish I knew about this, I would have definitely done it with [her 5-year-old daughter]”.

This same person, on another disturbing occasion, posted a video where she is interviewing the 5-year-old daughter about who her “boyfriends” are. It was creepy to begin with but when one boy was mentioned (after much cajoling of the poor kid) the mother kept asking “Oh is he the boy who thinks your Mommy is pretty, haha”

Like I said, it is a continuum.
