How Well Do You Know Clarissa: American Presidents

Which of these presidents do I dislike the most:

1. Harry Truman

truman

2. JFK

JFK

3. FDR

FDR

4. LBJ

LBJ

5. Bill Clinton

clinton

The one you immediately thought about is not here because that would make it too easy. 🙂 And the second one you thought about is not here either. But you can get extra points if you guess the names of these two presidents that I dislike even more but whose photos are not here. You need to get both of them, though.

  1. JFK.

Two disliked more: G. W. Bush and James Monroe
(I’m guessing the second one would be Monroe or T. Roosevelt from what you’ve written about your classes on Latin America.)

  2. Even though he isn’t on the list, how much do you hate Richard Nixon?

I’m assuming you dislike Clinton the most. I’m still new to your blog and haven’t been reading that long.

  3. I would suggest you hate Bush II but I’m a bit stumped to guess the other one plus one from the list. Perhaps Bush I, and from the list, I’ll go for FDR because no one’s said that yet.

I don’t know enough about American politics to know likely reasons why you might hate these politicians, unless you are basing your dislike on a gut reaction to womanising, then it would probably be Clinton.

  4. I think I know this one: you hate JFK. You hate the Kennedy’s in general. 😉 As far as the “easy” ones go, I think you hate Bush II the most and Bush I the second most. (It’s a toss up between Bush I and Regan but I’m going for Bush I for that slot.)

  5. I am figuring you hate JFK the most. And like Truman and Clinton the most, as these are the most conservative of the five here.

  6. I think the most disliked is Truman for dropping the bomb. And the other 2 not shown are Bush II (for very obvious reasons) and Reagan for initiating the disguised slippery slope decline of the US economy with his theatrical fantasy.

It is hard for me to believe that Clarissa would hate Clinton. Granted that he had been a womaniser, except that many men have been and are too but they go unnoticed because they are not of Clinton’s caliber.

No excuse whatsoever for Clinton’s behavior and lack of self-control considering his position. Having said that, I have also to admit that he was a very great President, tirelessly enthusiastic, engaging, a knowledgeable studious charismatic leader.

      – So if he were a janitor, his sex acts would have a completely different value? 🙂 🙂

Not the acts but because of his position the potential threat is the issue.

      2. no clarissa, i didn’t mean that. the value is social status/type of job independent. but when one is the president of a country, one has to have (24/7) in front of oneself the innumerable number of people looking at you and expecting guidance, example etc. Clinton had that quality in so many aspects of his personality but couldn’t fulllfill it when it came to be in front of a woman to whom he felt attracted. we all have kind of lack of control in the face of specific situations. nobody is perfect but if you run for us president you have to try to be as perfect as possible. he could have done better in the weakest aspect of his personality. nevertheless, he was a phenomenal president.

          – SEXUAL guidance and example?? 🙂 I didn’t see that in a president’s job description. 🙂

” nobody is perfect but if you run for us president you have to try to be as perfect as possible. ”

          – Maybe he did try to be as perfect a lover to Lewinsky as he could. 🙂 Or have you heard otherwise? 🙂

          – Having sex doesn’t make people weak or imperfect.

Having sex in the whitehouse with someone who may or may not have been fully vetted should be an issue.

  7. Truman. The guy responsible for America’s extroverted foriegn policy and dropped the bomb on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

The other two: Dubya and Reagan.

  8. I remember reading you don’t like the Kennedys, but I will guess Truman. And the other two are Reagan and George W.?

  9. Maybe one of the two we though of is Nixon? He created the Southern Strategy, which ultimately led to the Religious Wrong and the state of today’s RP. This is kind of ironic considering how Nixon actually governed; although far from ideal (expansion of Vietnam, etc), he also advanced affirmative action, expanded environmental protection, and was one of the last Republicans not to be a plutocrat who blew up the deficit. Had there been no Watergate, while not the greatest US President, certainly wouldn’t be ranked nearly as badly as he usually is.

  10. clarissa,
    1. i didn’t say SEXUAL guidance, example. so, please don’t add modifiers to my sentences.
    2. if one is married it is wrong to have an affair/lover at the back of your spouse.
    3. having sex makes people wonderful but not outside marriage. if you are unhappy in your marriage or relationship, get a divorce. period.

      – What guidance did you mean, then? Politicall?

“if one is married it is wrong to have an affair/lover at the back of your spouse.”

      – This is between the people who are married. Some think it’s wrong, some think it’s right. people are different.

“having sex makes people wonderful but not outside marriage. if you are unhappy in your marriage or relationship, get a divorce. period.”

      – I’m sorry but do you really believe it is your place to pass these wholesale judgment on other people?? What’s with the need to police other people’s sex lives? They will or will not divorce when they choose, not when you believe they should.

  11. My guess would be Truman and Reagan.
In regards to slick Willy, people elected him twice with the full knowledge about his mistresses. So, he could’ve just said “Yes, I had sex with that woman. Bite me.”

  12. I think it’s more fun to speculate on which you like the most of that crew. That, and I already stumbled across your answer, although I didn’t read past the first paragraph before jumping here.

I’d venture that you LIKE Truman the most, because of all those, he’s the one who best recognized the evil that was (and is) Stalinism and totalitarinaism and stood up to it. Second would be Clinton who, to his credit, doesn’t have any massively stupid huge policy screwups (New Deal, War on Poverty & Great Society) on his account.
