Zara Coat

I just read a NYTimes story that discussed at length the breaking news that Melania Trump wore a Zara coat instead of a Ralph Lauren one. Plus, it’s last season, which must mean something.

Turned on the TV and discovered a bunch of grim faced pundits discussing the same darn coat.

If I didn’t know for sure I was out of anaesthesia, I’d think I was hallucinating this.

    1. And while that was discussed, more awful legislation was passed. I wish people would focus on that and not these titillating scandals.

  1. Yeah, it’s not news that this administration and everyone associated with it is finding new ways to show that they’re ghouls.

What I’m surprised is the benefit of doubt given to Melania. She’s not appeared in public for a month? She must be MAD at her husband! Divorce time! She’s being kept against her will! Every time this administration reverses a cruel decision they made themselves, you have planted stories in the press about how it was due to the humane influence of the first lady (and often, Ivanka Trump).

She fucks Donad Trump for money. This is who she is. I guess the public is tired of non-stop cruelty from these people and has turned to the most unlikely of places for some traces of humanity. Sorry guys, keep looking, Melania isn’t going to save you. She’s a prostitute, and nothing that Trump has done so far has disturbed that arrangement.

  2. In other news, it is shameful that “stop that Jew” slogan aka “STOP Soros” not only sells but is used as an official name for a new law in Hungary:

// Orban’s right-wing Fidesz party tightened its grip on parliament in an April election fought on a fiercely anti-immigration platform that demonized US billionaire George Soros and liberal NGOs he backs. Orban accuses Soros of encouraging mass immigration to undermine Europe, a charge Soros denies.

Under the new law, officially called “STOP Soros”, individuals or groups who help migrants not entitled to protection to submit requests for asylum or who help illegal migrants gain status to stay in Hungary will be liable to prison terms.

“The STOP Soros package of bills serves that goal, making the organisation of illegal immigration a criminal offence. We want to use the bills to stop Hungary from becoming a country of immigrants,” he said.

Parliament, where Fidesz has a two-thirds majority, also passed on Wednesday a constitutional amendment to state that an “alien population” cannot be settled in Hungary—a swipe at Brussels over its quota plan.

Hungarian statistics show 3,555 refugees living in Hungary, a country of 10 million, as of April. Only 342 people were registered as asylum seekers in the first four months of this year, mostly from the Middle East, and 279 were approved.

    1. I think it would be better for everybody if Soros took a break from his activities in Eastern Europe. He’s legitimizing these right-wing regimes by making them reasonably look like they are standing for national sovereignty against liquid capital.

  3. Now googled what was the matter with the jacket and, you know, I do not believe it is a coincidence, even though what she needed to say this for is unclear.

At least, your news do not include this:

// Speaking to Army Radio, Erdan said that “there is a great chance that we will have to embark on a military operation in order to create long-term deterrence. There may be no other choice, and we would have to enter into a large-scale operation in the Gaza Strip – as early as the next few months.”

Erdan’s remarks follow several attempts, on and off the record, on the part of IDF and defense Ministry officials to warn Hamas that it does not understand how close Israel is to launching a wide-scale operation in Gaza, one way or another, in response to the increase in firebomb terrorism, and especially after the 45 rockets that were launched at Israeli communities the other night.

    1. I think people see a lot more depth to this brainless mannequin than there can possibly be. She was going slumming, so she threw on the cheapest garment she has. It’s Zara, which is supposed to relate to Hispanics. The last time she was criticized for wearing expensive shoes to a disaster zone, so now she puts on a cheap garment.

      1. Sorry, but given her profession, I don’t believe for a second she walks out the door with careful and attentive thought to her wardrobe.

My opinion is that someone pressured her to go down there to generate good press for Trump, and this is her way of getting back at them for being made to act as a First Lady.

I don’t think it’s really headline worthy, or even that interesting, but i’ll give her the credit of being good at what she wants to do, and preventing people from asking for much else.

Israel should have destroyed the hornet’s nest in Gaza decades ago — but I suspect that Erdan’s words here are just a propaganda bluff. Most Middle East observers believe that Netanyahu is currently too concerned about Iran to launch a large-scale offensive in Gaza, and that Hamas doesn’t actually want to provoke one.

  4. Why is it so hard for people to believe that she holds views similar to her husband? Have you guys forgotten she was an enthusiastic birther too?

All these contorted explanations, she was slumming, relating to Hispanics. Just LoL

    1. I don’t think this is somebody who is intellectually sophisticated enough to hold views. I think she’s a completely empty-brained mannequin. If she’s told to say Obama is the second coming of Jesus, I’m sure she will.

          Unbelievably how gullible people are.

I thought it was American first lady’s almost official job to repeat what told, while pretending those were her own views.

Do you think Melania is “a completely empty-brained mannequin” because she is a housewife?

        1. I wrote a post about her during the campaign. I think it’s called The Void, or something like that.

And she’s not even remotely a housewife. She’s a mannequin.

            1. I just saw her on TV. She was struggling to read a couple of extremely basic sentences in English in an atrocious accent. I get better results with my Beginner Spanish students in under 8 months.
