My hotel in Germany is the bomb. It is in a very old, historic building and it faces the town’s huge Gothic cathedral. It’s been a long time since I was awakened by church bells. It’s a whole different feeling, folks.

What, you are there already?

No, not yet. They just sent me the name of the hotel and I’m going crazy on TripAdvisor reading the reviews. Anticipation is half the fun. 🙂

If you ever give a presentation in Saudi Arabia, you’ll be awakened in your hotel room at daybreak by very loud recorded Muslim prayers blasted from multiple speakers in every neighborhood of the city. The last of the five daily prayers will wake you up shortly before midnight.

Recorded?? Not even real muezzins? And they call that being religous? Pathetic.

Once in Turkey the restaurant had a nice outside seating area and apparently it was close to a place where muezzins learned their trade and I heard some really unimpressive calls by apprentices…. voices breaking, slipping in and out of tune etc.
In town, nobody seemed to pay any attention to the calls (even in the middle of the day on Friday).
