Series Disappointment

I was enjoying the Spacey-less season of House of Cards until they showed a 60-year-old woman who’s never given birth before getting pregnant the moment she decided it was convenient.

I don’t mind series being unrealistic in all aspects except the physiological. When people sprout wings and fly, that’s fantasy genre. And I need to be warned about anything that smacks of fantasy so that I can avoid it.

  1. I totally disengaged from HoC at the end of the season when Claire leaves Francis, it seemed too much like conflict for the sake of conflict and so much of the politics was just dumb as were the motivations. I think there was the kernel of a great series about insiders (of the kind who rarely attract much public notice) who win some and lose some as they play dirty underhanded games but the show never recovered from him becoming president.

If you throw enough money at a problem almost or get divine intervention, almost anything is possible. :-p I won’t show this to my mother. She’ll spend the next twenty years insisting this is possible.

I got bored with House of Cards in the second season because I couldn’t believe these two were the only competent sociopaths in that universe. That’s a fantasy if there ever was one. Also, my father kept talking about how “realistic” it was. Come on.

  3. And…. he may be a garbage human being (like many great artists) but Spacey is one of the great actors of the time and we’re all poorer for his unpersoning and I’d rather he was acting than in seclusion….
