Doggy Lover

Oh, so it’s the same Mueller who investigated Hatfill? The doggy-lover Mueller?

Took me forever to make the connection because I couldn’t have possibly guessed that anybody in their right mind would want to hire him to investigate anything ever again.

Is this really the same Mueller? There was a great episode on Law & Order: CI based on the Hatfill story. It was probably the show’s best episode of all. And it’s the same Mueller? Unbelievable.

    1. He was sure that Hatfill did it – in spite the total lack of evidence – because the sniffing dogs brought into the case “went crazy” when they saw Hatfill. He kept saying he “trusted the dogs.” That was very funny. To everybody but Hatfill, I mean.

He clearly doesn’t know the first thing about dogs, who might ‘go crazy’ at a number of different kinds of stimulus. A skilled handler can discern the different type of stimulated behavior they exhibit – an idiot just seems them act up and assumes the dogs have mystical powers or something….

I remember in the baggage claim area arriving back in the US, a sniffer dog took a very active interest in my shoulder bag. The handler, though, knew what was up immediately.
“Were you carrying meat in that?”
“It was full of sausage the other day…”
She could also see I was amused rather than nervous (and flights from Germany were also probably not a big priority) so she just walked away (to help get the dog back to focusing on its job).

Hatfill doesn’t show up in Mueller’s Wikipedia page even in the talk section.
In Hatfill’s page any mention of Mueller is buried in the Person of Interest section.

The wiki page for the anthrax attacks seems to suggest that any bungling on the FBI’s part was part of their zeal to stop death spores and mass panic.

At that time, I was an intern in charge of opening all the mail in the office. “Well, I’m fucked,” I thought. 9/11 happened in my first week there. Flight 93’s diverted path flew right over Pittsburgh so everyone spent the rest of the day freaking out and getting no work done. People were fleeing the city.

You know, I think people either have amnesia (“Oh right there was an anthrax scare”) or they remember (“Oh fuck, there was an anthrax scare no wonder everyone was freaking out”) so Mueller’s handling of the investigation did not affect his future prospects. Also Congress passed the USA Patriot Act with overwhelming majorities about a week later.

To put it mildly very few people were concerned with due process at that time.

    1. The focus on Hatfill was not incompetence, it was stagecraft. It provided a safe storyline for public consumption while the real resolution occurred offstage, with the help of the CIA.

That Mueller got the job of managing the Trump-Russia investigation is surely because it’s controlled by deep-state forces who approve of how he handled the anthrax case.

  2. New terror act in France. Israeli websites tell the man was on some terror list and was known to be an extremist, do not report whether he was of Middle Eastern origin:

// At least two people were killed and 11 others wounded in a shooting at a Christmas market in central Strasbourg on Tuesday, police said, adding that the suspected gunman has a criminal record and is on the run.
    ….
Some 26,000 individuals suspected of posing a security risk to France are on the aforementioned ‘File S’ watch list, of whom about 10,000 are believed to have been radicalised, sometimes in Salafist mosques, online or abroad.
