Snowed In

What is the ingredient you absolutely can’t cook without (aside from the obvious things like water or salt)?

For me, it’s carrots. I have no idea how anybody can make soup, stew, casserole, meat, or fish within carrots.

I just made some really great buckwheat and broccoli soup with a ton of carrots:

It came in very handy after building some snowmen. “Look, mommy! I’m a Russian girl!” Klara shrieked happily. Yes, she’s a tad overdressed but we are terrified of her catching a cold. We are old parents.

I love being snowed in.

  1. She’s not overdressed. That’s pretty normal dress for a small child around where I am in the winter. I think I wore snowpants when I went to play in the snow until I was seven or eight or so.

And that looks like excellent soup. 😀

    1. Thank you, we loved the soup!

She’d wearing two pair of pants, two pair of socks, and two cardigans under the coat. That’s why she looks like she’s twice the age she is. :-))

Two pairs of pants? None of the layers were thermal long underwear or fleece lined tights? Or wool?
        :-p :-p
I have no idea how cold it is right now where you are but she doesn’t look overdressed to me.

Not sure it would count, but black pepper? If that doesn’t count then onions.
