Fight Back

Oh, the Covington boy is going to sue for defamation! Good for him. And good that he has the kind of parents who are willing to fight for him.

I always wonder why people don’t sue more in these situations. Isn’t this supposed to be a litigious country? A lawyer paradise? Like this young “writer” who withdrew her novel because freaks accused her of being a racist. Why do people just accept the abuse and don’t fight back? I’m not saying sue necessarily, but stand up to the bullies?

  1. The kid is suing the Washington Post, which is owned by the richest man in the world. Bezos is about to lose half his fortune in a divorce, and now maybe the boy will also get a chunk of it.

  2. BTW, it also pays to complain — nicely, of course. I take my blood pressure every day (stable at about 115/55), and two weeks ago my ten-year-old BP machine broke. It has a lifetime warranty, so I called the company, and they sent me a postage-paid Priority Mail sticker to send the unit back for repair or replacement.

Today I called them back to ask about the progress with my unit, and the company representative paused and said, “Er, well, I’m going to go ahead and you you a new replacement unit out today.”

GODDAMN WORDPRESS!! I hate it almost a much as I’ve always hated MS Word!

  4. Good. He and his family were getting death threats because of the false coverage. I don’t think they’ll be able to prove direct causation for those, but it’s certainly a contributing factor. Let alone future college, career, etc.

It’s sickening how cavalier people are about destroying other people’s lives. I’m glad this kid is able to do something about it, at least.
