“I Miss God”

My mom gave me some holy icons from her extensive collection now that I’ve gone all churchy.

“What are holy icons?” my 9-year-old niece asks.

“Holy icons are pictures of Jesus,” Klara explains authoritatively.

“I miss church, mommy,” Klara says. “I miss my friends Emmy and Nilah. I miss the priest. But most of all I miss God.”

  1. Klara’s concept of God still needs more developing in the perspective sense.
So far, apparently the only time God gets mentioned in her life is during religious services—while in normal everyday life He seems “separated” from the mainstream fare of secular existence.
She has yet to finally figure out God is not demographic to “only religions and Christianity”, but universal to overall reality at large.
