Bernie on Busing

Bernie is a voice of reason on busing:

“No, we’ve — busing is certainly an option that is necessary in certain cases, but it is not the optimal,” Sanders said. “Does anybody think it’s a good idea to put a kid on a bus, travel an hour to another school and to another neighborhood that he or she doesn’t know? That’s not the optimal. What is the optimal is to have great community schools which are integrated, that’s what I think most people want to see. That’s what I want to see.”

God, I hope angry snowflakes don’t intimidate him into abandoning this eminently reasonable position, at least.

This is one of the gubizillion reasons he’s better than Harris.

    1. Even just a year ago everybody seemed to remember that she was a horrible prosecutor. Now all of a sudden everybody forgot.

She’s Hillary 2.0. Why aren’t people seeing this? Rich, neoliberal, clueless, dishonest, and elitist. We already supported somebody like that and lost. And Trump is a lot better positioned to win now than in 2016.

What’s wrong with people that they keep doing the same thing and hoping for a different result?

  1. Kamala Harris herself doesn’t even have a bussing plan, and won’t firmly commit to a national bussing plan. She didn’t think through what would happen after her attack on Biden, or maybe she just hoped that the average voter has stopped paying attention now (and she’s probably right.)

      1. I mean, depending on what definition of “worked” you’re using, it arguably did work. The question is whether it’s worth very long bus rides. Most people would say no if they really think about it.

    1. I don’t even think she’s pro-busing. I think she’s pro-saying whatever will get her elected. And we already had a candidate just like this 2 years ago. That candidate lost.

That’s why I prefer Bernie, in spite of everything. He always said the exact same thing. He’s always been sincere. He’s not a fake poseur.

      1. Even Bernie is giving in occaionally now. It’s frustrating. But he’s far more reliable than most of the candidates running. If I vote for him, I know what I’m getting. I’m genuinely unclear what Harris claims to be offering.
