Link of the Day

López is a loser for apologizing but what’s wrong with all these people who are piling on him for saying something completely reasonable and clearly true?

This is so crazy.

Absent-minded Professor

So remember how I couldn’t decide whether to do a book or an edited volume?

I ended up doing both at the same time because I’d already started the book and I’m very excited about it but then a really great opportunity for an edited volume presented itself, and I couldn’t say no. The volume is a lot of work because I not only have to write my chapter but do all the revisions and editing on everybody else’s. Plus, dealing with the publishers takes time.

Of course, I’m still doing articles, conference talks, and reviews, too. Otherwise, there would be a gap in the CV and I also keep feeling tempted by all these kick-ass topics.

Plus, I have all of the trips, and I’m letting a homeless family move in for several weeks after my last trip of the summer. And there is “The Saga of the Evil Lobsters” that I have to invent and narrate to Klara for hours on end. And there is my side business. And I was just assigned a course I wasn’t going to teach, so I’ll have to prepare God only knows when.

In short, I’m a little overwhelmed. Yesterday at the splash pad, I opened a can of sunscreen and started to lather it on wondering why it felt lumpy. Turns out what I was lathering on was applesauce, not sunscreen. Klara observed me with confusion.

In the meantime, Trump has introduced another round of sanctions against Russia over the poisoning of the Skripals in Salisbury.

Nobody even remembers the Skripals any more but he is still pushing strong on the sanctions. It has been like this since day one of the presidency, and it’s the polar opposite of Obama’s maddening reluctance ever to stand up to Putin.

Sometimes it makes sense to allow the brain to register evidence.

New York Times Is a Whore

This is pretty disgusting, New York Times:

Last month marked the 50th anniversary of Chappaquiddick, another Kennedy family tragedy that took place when Edward Kennedy drove off a bridge on a small island next to Martha’s Vineyard. The accident killed Mary Jo Kopechne, the 28-year-old passenger in Mr. Kennedy’s car.

It was a Kennedy family tragedy? Really? And the rapes of young girls by Epstein are an Epstein family tragedy?

The accident killed her? Did the accident that killed her maybe have a name?

You gotta be the most shameless of shills to write crap like this.

No Urgency

Trump goes to Ohio and rattles off a list of new steel plants being built in the state. In the meantime, Dem candidates are eagerly discussing how good they are at explaining white privilege to “young mothers in Youngstown.”

If they thought there were any urgency to defeating Trump, they’d forget the words “white privilege” and memorize lists of steel plants.
