I can’t believe people are actually dedicating time and energy to discussing why it’s a bad idea to buy Greenland. Of all the distraction maneuvers, this has got to be the most pathetic. Or one would think so until one saw how well it’s working.

  1. The idea isn’t as absurd as it sounds. Apparently, nobody remembers that the United States bought the Virgin Islands from Denmark in 1917 for $25 million, and that deal worked out well.

    In 1946 President Truman also offered Denmark $1oo million in gold to buy Greenland. No sale then, but the U.S got what it really wanted: a strategically located military base (Thule Air Base) above the Arctic Circle.
