It Is a Religion

Ok, yeah, it’s definitely a religion, complete with a confessional:

Even those who care deeply about the planet’s future can slip up now and then. Tell us: Where do you fall short in preventing climate change? Do you blast the A/C? Throw out half your lunch? Grill a steak every week? Share your anonymous confession with NBC News.

It’s a modern religion, so it’s very exhibitionist.

    1. I read this too and was equally freaked out. In my culture this is common but that’s a result of people cohabiting with parents and grandparents in 2-room apartments for generations. What posseses Americans to do it is a mystery.

Right before reading this comment, I was talking to my mother, and she told me this story of a man’s adventures with his ex-wife’s underwear that he faithfully reported to his mother. Now the whole immigrant community is discussing the details of his fetish. Very creepy.

Yep, there is no such thing as a non-religious society… you can kill of particular religions but people will just start making up their own new ones….

My confession, back in the US when I drove there was nothing I loved more than having the AC on and the windows open…. Je ne regrette rien….

    1. I never understood this habit of having the TV on “in the background.” It would drive me crazy, to be honest. And how anybody can fall asleep when there’s noise is incomprehensible to me. But I’ve always had sleep issues.

      1. Actually all I watch on T.V. are my DVD copies of old television shows.
Even when I had cable I still had the T.V. off most of the time, or at least had the volume muted. The cacophony of non-stop yakking (especially commercials) can drive me shit-fucking crazy.

Overall, I’m more of a “stereo” buff myself. Mainly pop music fare from the 50s, 60s, 70s, and 80s.

I turn my television on when I get up and leave it on until I put on background music when I’m sitting at my computer after dark. Since I live alone, the house would otherwise be silent, and I like some background noise. (So does my cat.)
