If you are meeting a new group (a book club, a professional organization, a debate society, a writing group, whatever) and you feel nervous, bring flowers. Buy a small bouquet and bring it with you. And when you are ready to leave, take it with you.

People in this group will forever see you differently. You will stick in their mind as “the person with the flowers.” Slightly eccentric but in an interesting way. And you will see yourself and your role in the group differently.

I recommend white, blue or lilac flowers. Now yellow and not red.

OK, I figured out LinkedIn. It’s like blogging but under your own name and with hashtags. And not crabby.

So I got on LinkedIn because that’s supposedly where the fun is these days. Does anybody know what to do now? How do I find and join the fun?

Is anybody here good on LinkedIn?

I find it both funny and sad that all of a sudden the idea that it’s completely normal for boys to play with dolls and for girls to play with trucks is deeply conservative and can only be found on right-wing websites.
