Republicans seem dedicated to outdoing Democrats is the boredom and irrelevance of their convention.
Seriously, who wants to hear from these people? Other than Kristi Noem, I’d rather eat fried mud than listen to any of them. Trump and Pence have to speak and they’ll do great. But Nikki Haley? Everybody hates her. And the relatives? So many relatives.
Not that I was going to watch anyway.
But Clarissa, all the kiddies save Tiffany are Trump hires or married to Trump hires managing important parts of the government or the never ending Trump campaign. I thought you loved that shit and wanted it to continue. Don’t you want to know how Jared solved peace in the Middle East and coronavirus? Which is all China’s fault anyways?
You know who isn’t featured? Mitch McConnell. Why? Don’t Republicans give him more credit?

I don’t love that shit but compared to corona-mongering and riots, it seems completely unimportant. Thanks to Democrats who have adopted Michelle’s “when they go low, we turn into such dirty bastards that they look downright angelic.”

Really? I thought they were fishing for pity votes with the constant talk about all the tragedies of Biden’s life and how he stayed compassionate and has all the feels. In general it was all about feelings at the DNC, including Michelle Obama who should be given an Oscar for looking like she is holding back tears throughout her speech. Meanwhile, the only actual policy plan was that they will make masks mandatory.
I really hope RNC will not be about anybody’s feeling but about a plan for this country.

I guess just read the 2016 platform again.
I don’t know what to make of this resolution.

Republicans can hang upside down off the chandelier, screeching and spitting, and they still won’t be anything as debased and vicious as the party of lockdowns and riots.
Compared to lockdowns and riots, this is all so trivial and unimportant.

Only Donald Trump is interesting.

Kristi Noem, the one anti-lockdown governor, is interesting and really should be the nominee. And Trump and Pence have to speak. I agree the others are a waste, even by the low standards of these things.
Is this thing virtual? It should either be an event with actual crowds or they shouldn’t have it at all. The Democrats are the party of the New Normal. Let them own it.

I agree completely. Let the Democrats be associated in people’s minds with the oppressive boredom of that pathetic little zoom convention.

At least one small consolation is that part of the RNC will be in person, and there will be some real audience (or so I read somewhere). It does seem symbolic — Democrats for a completely online world, while Republicans at least have some room for live human presence. Personally, I would have liked to see Abbott and De Santis speak, but am not sure if they are on the program. I would have also liked to see them do the whole thing in person. They could have done given the current numbers, but maybe they did not want to risk looking bad due to a smaller audience.
