RIP RBG

I’m sure it’s all completely accidental but every conservative in my Twitter feed is posting beautiful RIPs for RBG while every liberal is being a total ghoul and busily discussing who will fill her still warm seat on the SCOTUS.

A nationally important figure is dead. Can’t people stay off their stupid partisan crap for two seconds? Or at least until tomorrow?

She was a truly indomitable, kick-ass person. And also a gracious, generous human being. This is a great loss.

  1. I would love to see your feed because the liberal people I follow are sad and spiralling. I am not watching Rachel Maddow give birth to puppies with special guest commentary by Hillary Clinton.

Anyways, I’m nursing this Knob Creek bourbon.

    1. With all my huge admiration, I just wish she’d retired before and spared us having to face a contested election with a 4:4 SCOTUS.

Not being capable of retiring on time was her one huge flaw.

Don’t worry, McConnell will get a Trump-appointed Justice on the court before the election. 🙂

(That square after my statement is a happy face!)

  2. Right? I have a friend who said “is now a good time to point out how she was racist?”

No! No it’s not! It’s not appropriate at all. First of all, she just died. Let us mourn. RBG was a badass who did so much for women’s rights. Second of all, can’t we just for once in our lives recognize that people are complicated and not two-dimensional stick figures?

    1. Exactly. People don’t seem to understand the most basic things. She’s gone and can do or say nothing. And the rest of us will have lots of time to nitpick. It doesn’t have to be now.

Well, Rod is discussing it too…

The conservative / liberal reactions probably also derive from conservatives being sure Trump will appoint a conservative judge in her stead, so they feel they have nothing to worry about.

    1. I don’t mean nobody should ever discuss it. But this was literally in the first ten minutes since the news came in. Give it an hour or two out of respect, is what I say.
