Speaking with an accent finally started to bring benefits. When I call restaurants to ask if they are open for indoor dining (against the governor’s orders), the accent reassures people on the other end of the line that I’m not a government snitch.
Somebody I know complained that everywhere she calls is closed. But when I call the same places, they are open.
That’s delightful! I wonder what accents qualify as “good” ones?
