Today I received a beautiful certificate from my university thanking me for 10 years of service. I have been here for 12 years. It’s not an insignificant point. After 20 years I can retire, and it’s not like they added two years. They never make these ‘mistakes’ to benefit workers.
In neoliberal math, 2+2=5 and 12 gets rounded down to 10.

Of course, 12 never gets rounded to 15 because that wouldn’t save any money.

I’m sure 12 gets rounded to 20 if it’s a question of cutting budgets and transferring the money to private businesses.

Did the university actually make a mistake in your case, or do they simply only have certificates with fixed-year time periods (10 years, 20 years, etc.) printed on them?

My colleague who came in the same year as I did also got a 10-year certificate.

Did they give any out two years ago? I’m wondering if it’s an extreme delay.
