Benin vs Quebec

Yesterday I was years old when I discovered that I understand the French of Benin and Burkina Faso better than the French of Quebec. I wasn’t fluent but I had conversations. Opinions were exchanged. At no point was I mystified what language people were speaking.

Are They Robots?

This is so incredibly stupid. Not the tweet but the woman in the video.

Has this woman ever met people or is she a robot? I have a lot of stuff in my car that I don’t want anybody to touch. I have 3 different types of outerwear because our weather is nuts. I have spare sneakers and spare boots. Cutlery in case I need to feed my kid on the fly. Medication for several different stomach ailments which tend to strike exclusively on road trips. Books, toys, makeup, perfume. Snacks, blood sugar testing strips.

And of course not everyone is like that and travels with enough stuff to sustain life for a week in a situation where all exits from the vehicle are barred. Which is exactly my point. My car is my space. It’s not about just getting from point A to point B. It is an extension of my personality like the neighbor’s vehicle is an extension of his.

Besides, are we now completely past the fear of viral infections? It sounds like a terrible idea to have the entire neighborhood sit behind the same wheel within a short period of time. This is completely schizoid. First, we lock ourselves up for months and then all of a sudden it’s OK to exchange bodily fluids with half the neighbors on any given day.

In short, these smooth-brained bureaucrats should stay in their pods and not try to tell actual humans how to live.

Unelected Prime Minister

After appointing as Prime Minister a former banker whom nobody ever elected to anything, I hope Canadians temper their internationalist fervor and ask themselves what it is they feel so superior about when an unelected oligarch openly assume the highest office in the land.

The Expert Class

Not that the expert class is much better:

The difference, of course, is that the expert class is purposefully and cynically grifting to get paid. And the excitable plebs is emoting in order to get milked.

Two Flavors of Stupid

In the meantime, Democrats are reacting to Bernie Sanders gathering huge crowds:

Its very hard to blame Yarvin to giving up on democracy. The very very lowest common denominator rules the day, and people with a functioning brain are caught in the dysfunction created by undisciplined, emotive, wounded, and resentful idiots.

Unusual Sociability

Instead of going to Germany, I ended up taking Klara to a birthday party where everybody speaks African French. I already was unusually sociable yesterday, so it feels like punishment to have to socialize two days in a row.

Before my flight got delayed, N was planning to take Klara to this party and even prepared a conversation topic about how he quit eating sweets. Of course, I decided to take this burden off his shoulders because it’s much more painful for him to have to mix with people.

Duped Again?

I’m trying to remain positive but it increasingly looks like this dude is right. We hear a lot of words but that’s all we get.

Delayed

My flight to Germany was delayed by a day. The weather is perfect, so it’s not that.

Never again will I trust these “direct flights from St Louis.” Who delays by a whole day? Ludicrous

A Complete Coincidence

I forgot to mention that during several woke struggle sessions of the past year the Chair of Physics loudly and insistently expressed his belief that there are no structural racism, sexism and homophobia at our university and that he knows for sure that nobody at his department is racist.

I’m sure that it’s a complete coincidence that Physics was slated for elimination before anybody else.

Busy Saturday

I’m off to Germany tomorrow, on an only direct flight to Europe from our airport. Today is pretty crazy because I have to make borscht for a church event, attend the church event after Vespers, do laundry, pack, make fish and parsley root stew for N, and I promised to give comments to the Associated Press about lunacy at my university. Yes, I know, AP, but nobody else is asking, and I have to go where interest lies.

It’s not just parsley root, by the way. I do carrot, radish, bok choy and spinach and stew them all in Bangkok spices I got in Canada. It’s out of this way good.
