Q&A about Affirmative Action

As I explained in great detail previously, affirmative action in college admissions is a non-issue. It’s invented to keep simpletons on both sides occupied and inflamed. One of such simpletons decided to send in this question.

The overwhelming majority of colleges in this country never used affirmative action because they don’t have any standards of admission. Everybody gets accepted. Even people who don’t apply get accepted. You’ve got to be every kind of stupid to blether on excitedly about Yale (where, unlike me, you never studied or taught) instead of concentrating on what’s happening at the community college in town or the public university next door.

What the bloody ef do you, incredible doofus, care about Harvard? What is it to you which wealthy kid gets to memorize neoliberal mantras there? How does that impact your life what race that kid is?

I just can’t with these people who wouldn’t be bothered to notice what’s happening under their noses. The public education is getting destroyed as we speak. Forget bloody Harvard and its stupid race-mongering. These are rich people with their rich-people problems. They don’t care about you. Why are you so sore over their imaginary problems?

Also, would it be so hard to enter “affirmative action” in the search box of the blog and see what was the most recent thing I said about it instead of making inane assumptions?

Childish in Research

I’m evaluating a doctoral dissertation. On page 4, the author says, “the current system is profoundly unjust and creates suffering, pain, and violence.”

I want to claw my eyes out, and there are 514 pages to go.

Grade-school Trumpists

Our 8-year-old stunned us at the breakfast table with an announcement that she’s voting for Trump. Her class held a vote at recess and Trump won. Biden lost. Nobody heard of Kamala, so she garnered no votes. The breakdown was: girls for Trump, boys for Biden.

I’ve never mentioned Trump or anything political in her presence, we don’t turn on the TV, we don’t hang out with people who talk politics when the kids are around. This is why it came as a shock that she knows who Trump and Biden are. She also related the story of both assassination attempts on Trump with all sorts of correct details.

I said I didn’t know who I was going to vote for, and Klara responded, “Come on, Mommy, it’s obvious. He was shot at twice and the other guy dropped out when nobody shot at him.”

I have no idea why I thought she wouldn’t know about this stuff. My parents talked to me about what the USSR really was when I was 9, and my kid is 8,5.

September Oktoberfest

Not only is our town’s Oktoberfest not in October, this is the food we are offered:

We have a historically large German population around here. Everybody has a German last name. But you can’t get German food even at our sad mockery of Oktoberfest.

The Farce of Early Voting

I received this sample ballot in the mail yesterday:

Can anybody explain this to me?

Also, this is one of the many reasons why early voting that’s done months in advance and by mail is a horrible idea. We should all be united in opposing it. We are being robbed and we just bat our eyelashes and feel abjectly grateful for the “convenience.”

The Primacy of Words

Yes, let’s declare this, get Taiwan invaded, and then stand vapidly by as Taiwan gets destroyed while we declare that we stand with Taiwan and we are with them to the end. Let’s do that because it hasn’t been done before.

Please observe how this “words instead of actions and consequences to others be damned” is the policy of both parties in the US. The belief in the primacy of words has won a resounding victory.

Cognitive Dissonance in California

A ballot measure that will increase the penalties for low-level thefts and drug possession has overwhelming support from California voters, according to a new study from the Public Policy Institute of California.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/ktla.com/news/california/california-voters-overwhelmingly-support-proposition-36-new-study-says/amp/#cobssid=s

This measure aims to roll back the legalization of many categories of crime introduced by Kamala Harris a decade ago. California voters want to put an end to the crime wave Kamala unleashed on them. But they will also come out in droves to vote for her as president. That there might be a bit of a contradiction here escaped their notice entirely.

Different Physiology

Low-libido and/or low-fertility people love to lecture their high-libido and/or high-fertility brothers and sisters.

Yes, you don’t understand. Because your physiology is different. It’s not a great moral achievement. It’s simply how nature made you.

By the way, low-fertility and low-libido are not insults. They are statements of physiological fact. I’m clearly low-fertility myself, for example. It’s not a source of shame or pride. It just is.

I expected better from Matt Walsh whose whole thing is that you can’t choose whether you are a man or a woman.

This is not to say that I champion infidelity. I absolutely don’t. But I understand that avoiding infidelity is enormously easier for some people than others.

Anti-appeasement

This is all we ask for:

All we want is to be able to destroy Russian ammunition depots and military airfields before they get on the way to kill people. That’s all. The Biden-Harris administration has been adamantly opposed to this because WWIII.

As everybody can see, World War 3 didn’t begin as a result of this ammunition depots being destroyed. Every time Putin gets hit in the face, he crawls away and whimpers. Every time, he scores a win, he becomes more aggressive.

Appeasement doesn’t work. These people understand only brute force.

Too Much Wife

Every time I mention how bizarre this is, people tell me that it’s a hallowed American tradition to have wives insert themselves into the political process. I still find it weird and off-putting that a Cabinet meeting is turned into a circus to accommodate the delusions of grandeur of an unelected, uninteresting person.

It wouldn’t occur to me to have my husband open one of my lectures. And a lecture is a lot more serious than a Cabinet meeting.

It’s insulting to inflict wives and girlfriends on people who are at work. Husbands and boyfriends, too, but women don’t do that kind of thing nearly as often as men.
