Rudakubana Questions

Has the motive of Rudakubana’s stabbing of the little girls in Southport been established? I’ll be grateful for a link.

Is anybody exploring if his attack is connected to the ISIS plot to attack a Taylor Swift concert in Austria? The children Rudakubana murdered were in a Taylor Swift workshop. Could be a coincidence, of course, given Swift’s ubiquitousness. But it could also be part of an ISIS strategy.

I’m sick again (I swear, this summer, I can’t even) plus there’s new drama at work, so I haven’t been able to follow the story. If anybody read something valuable please leave links.

Attacks on Tim Walz

I find the nature of the attacks on Tim Walz to be very telling. He’s being excoriated for a master’s thesis he wrote decades ago and words he said about his military service.

It’s all about words.

The dude actively prevented state officials from stopping the BLM rioting in Minneapolis. His pro-gender-bender initiatives are so aggressive, Gavin Newsom refuses to consider them. During COVID, Walz set up snitch hotlines for people to narc on their neighbors. He’s so far to the left of, say, Biden that he’s already in the stratosphere.

But all we hear is “he said, he said, he said.”

All we care about is not what people do but what they say. We are obsessed with words and utterly uninterested in actions.

Criticisms of Trump have been like this for years.

We get nothing from our elected representatives except for words because we pay no attention to anything but words.

Serves us right.

Tampon Tim

It’s not surprising to me that CBS couldn’t tell the truth to save its mother’s life but I shudder to think that there are still people who believe its fabricated news items.

The Trump campaign is criticizing Walz for putting tampons in boys’ bathrooms. This is not a minor issue like you might think before you encounter it in action.

Here’s what happens. A tampon machine is placed in a boys’ bathroom supposedly to address the needs of girls who pose as boys. That a girl with a functioning brain would choose to go to a male toilet and start changing tampons there is ludicrous. But who cares? The machine serves a very different purpose.

Teenage boys being teenage boys find the whole thing hilarious and start removing these tampons, making performance art out of them, painting graffiti on the tampon machine. This immediately makes them guilty of a hate crime, triggering their persecution, detention, and even expulsion.

I have seen precisely this unfold, and it’s a situation that was engineered to start a witch hunt. This is why Walz is being criticized for putting utterly unnecessary tampon machines in boys’ toilets.

Nature and Nurture

‘A Jew, however poor, if he had ten sons would put them all to letters, not for gain, as the Christians do, but for the understanding of God’s law—and not only his sons, but his daughters.’

Pierre Abelard (c. 1135)

A couple thousand years of this, and we have the results that we are seeing.

Moral of the story: everything worth having takes a lot of patient, oft-repeated effort.

The Marxist West

At the end of the Cold War, the West adopted the Marxist approach to the collapsing USSR. Marxism, in its classical form, posits that economic factors are at the root of everything. Ideas and beliefs grow out of economic relations. Money is the base, and everything else is a superstructure. Whatever you think, want, believe and cherish is a result of your economic situation.

Now, I don’t believe any of this crap. People are more than their stomachs, and ideas always come first, overriding the economic, whether for good or for ill. But that’s the classical Marxist view.

The West adopted this view and decided that if you change the economic structure of the USSR from socialism to capitalism, this will lead its inhabitants to embrace the ideas that coexist most naturally with capitalism. Freedom, democracy, choice.

As we have had many chances to observe since then, this didn’t work. Because – newsflash! – the fundamental belief of classical Marxism is wrong, and every neo-Marxist in existence accepted this fact decades ago and created an alternative approach. The Western leadership of the 1990s, however, behaved like it was still 1848* and tried to apply Marx’s favorite remedy to cure the results of large-scale Marxist experimentation. The results were predictably sad.

Yet Western politicians still try to achieve the Marxist goal of changing human nature to achieve a society where human flaws will not exist she everybody will vegetate in a state of earthly perfection and bliss.

The Certainty of the West

The West lost the certainty that it deserves to win. The Battle of Cajamarca was won by Europeans because they knew they were right. You can’t achieve anything without inner certainty and resolve.

For two years, since the Kherson offensive, Ukrainians were listening to the West’s guidance and ending up as losers. Because the West today has embraced the culture of loserishness.

This week, they finally embraced their role as the new West, and here’s the result:

Look at what’s happening in the UK. The word pathetic doesn’t begin to describe what it is. Look at the ugly, cheap attempt at conducting the Olympics in France. Look at our election process here in the US. Look at people in Spain beating up tourists because they want to get rid of their most important industry in a bout of self-destructiveness.

The real West still exists but its center of gravity moved to the East of Europe.

Same Place

Yes, that’s exactly how it was explained to us in the USSR. I’ve been in that “same place” that the Soviet Union constructed for us and can report that it really sucks.

The idea that equal outcomes are either possible or desirable is so obviously stupid and so many people have been sacrificed to this unreachable lunacy that it beggars belief the US presidential candidate is still prattling about it cheerfully.

Sad and Needy

A graduate student from the English Department came by today to tell me that she recently came over from her country, she hates it here, but it would really help if I could give her a scholarship or a stipend.

I asked if she was looking for a job, thinking maybe it was a language barrier that made her request sound so bizarre.

No, she said. Not a job. She had no time for a job. But she was feeling so bad and hating it here so much. If she had a stipend that would help.

Of course, I said no. This is not even our student. And I don’t have a budget I could throw around on a whim. Why she thought to hit me up for money, I don’t know. Maybe she goes door-to-door. And yes, I checked. She really is a newly admitted graduate student.

I’m not too surprised because I’ve had this exact experience with graduate students from her culture doing the “I’m so sad and hate it here, now give me stuff” thing.

No Tribe

In a way, I do envy the people who are experiencing tribal joys around the election. To go into raptures over a candidate together with everybody “on your side” must be pleasant.

But then I think nah, I’d rather have my brain all to myself and enjoy it in a lonesome fashion.

Don’t get me wrong, I could be plenty tribal. Just not over the choices we’ve been given.

Genetic Lottery

My mother is one of 6 daughters in her family. Four of the 6 married Ukrainian and Russian alcoholics. One married a Ukrainian dentist and another a Jewish linguist.

I’ll let you guess whose children are now a stock trader, a professor, and a CEO and whose… are not.

I also have to mention that 5 of the 6 husbands were total shit, and again, let you guess which one wasn’t.
