Family Obligations

I thought bitching about family obligations was passé but apparently some people still can’t let go of it. Everybody lives in the exact arrangement they want to live in. But some people like to pretend that somebody arranged their family lives for them.

This kind of thing is why I don’t have a great time in mommy circles. We are all supposed to put on these fake shows about how we are exasperated with our hopeless husbands. And I’d sit there thinking that at that exact moment I could be reading or painting, and instead I’m participating in an embarrassing activity.

Seriously, you can’t figure out a system of who buys presents? With your partner in life, the person who’s closest to you, you just absolutely can’t make it work? That’s ineptitude of extreme proportions.

Of course, they are not inept. They simply like the fake victim status.

Requested Sources

Whoever asked about sources on the Spanish cash withdrawal story, you could have googled it, you know?

Here’s one.

Here’s another.

Here’s the original one in Spanish.

Another one in Spanish.

Please remember that I work in a managerial capacity and deal with people acting helpless all day long. It stopped being cute years ago.

Told You So

As I explained previously, the reason why the US had troops in Afghanistan for twenty years was to prevent exactly this.

Americans couldn’t appreciate their own greatness, convinced themselves that they needed to be very small and expiate non-existent sins, and now we have two conflicts involving three nuclear powers happening at the same time.

They can be left, right, it doesn’t matter. They went to school where they were told that their history is sinful and they should stop participating. Here’s the result.

Crazy in Spain

Spain, it’s getting harder and harder to love you.

The Spanish bureaucracy is already too unwieldy, slow, and confused. This measure makes it possible to dispossess anybody whether they even try to access their own money.

What Did I Say?

I just noticed that I had a 300% growth in views yesterday and it’s continuing today. All from the US. What exactly did I say that excited people so much?

You’ll Have Nothing

Speaking of software glitches, Duolingo seems to think that the reality of “you’ll have nothing and you’ll be happy” has already arrived:

The Cognitively Modest

Social media are depressing because they make it very clear how incredibly stupid many people are:

Thousands of likes for a post so moronic.

Another topic that brings the stupid out in full force is money. People sincerely don’t understand even the basics of capitalism. They live in a state of perpetual funk because things that we see as obvious are very mystifying to them. They overpay for everything, get into gigantic debt, sabotage themselves consistently and relentlessly, and… have no idea why bad things keep happening.

Social media made the confusion of the cognitively modest individuals much worse. That and the endless pandering where they are told their opinions are as valid as anybody’s.

AI Victim Statement

For two years, Stacey Wales kept a running list of everything she would say at the sentencing hearing for the man who killed her brother in a road rage incident in Chandler, Ariz.

But when she finally sat down to write her statement, Wales was stuck. She struggled to find the right words, but one voice was clear: her brother’s.

“I couldn’t help hear his voice in my head of what he would say,” Wales told NPR.

That’s when the idea came to her: to use artificial intelligence to generate a video of how her late brother, Christopher Pelkey, would address the courtroom and specifically the man who fatally shot him at a red light in 2021.

Death must have been a sweet release for this poor dude. His family couldn’t be assed to say a few genuine words over his death and outsourced the job to AI.

There are whole swaths of population that are outsourcing their basic human functions to AI.

That a judge allowed this travesty in an actual courtroom is even more of a travesty.

Video: Cancellation of the Cancel Culture

Good news! The cancel culture is losing its bite because people finally found a way to stand up to it. Collective hounding of people for something they said, distasteful and clumsy as it might be, should have no place in civilized societies. The oft-repeated mantra that “you should be free to day whatever you want but you shouldn’t be free from the consequences” was a favorite trick of Soviet apparatchiks. It’s inane and stupid.
