French police detained a man on Monday after he attacked three women with knives…
The man attacked the three women, who were aged ⁠19, 24 and 36, with two kitchen knives, severely wounding two of them…
“It is Allah who commanded me,” the man lying on the floor said.

The motive of the attack remains unknown, [Interior Minister Laurent] Nunez said.

If you feel like you’ve seen the same report a hundred times, yes, this is a fresh one from today.

This is not the same Muslim terrorist who attacked gays in Berlin yesterday and New Yorkers last week. Nobody has any idea what is motivating them, of course.

    I don’t think they’re pretending, I think they really don’t understand. The idea of belief is so alien to them so they reject it out of hand and then compulsively search for something they can understand, like mental illness or anti-colonialism or whatever.

      They can’t afford to understand how that works. If it’s possible for an ideology, transmitted from person to person as ideas and culture, can provoke acts of mass violence against perceived ideological enemies… looking in the mirror might get weird.

        LOL, well, it certainly isn’t the Amish doing this ;-D

        Yesterday, I questioned how many readers of this blog have bothered to inform themselves enough about Islam to have at least read the Quran and some of the collected Hadith. Despite this being a fairly well read group, there was no response. The general population is unlikely to have any understanding of Muslim beliefs.

          Guilty as charged. I have read a lot of commentary on those, but never the text itself, even though I have read, wholly or in large chunks, founding religious texts of my own and other religions. I have some solid prejudices based on belonging to a religion that has been dealing with Islam since its founding. That collective historical experience is pretty damning. I’ve thought about it, mind, but it’s kind of like deciding to read the collected works of Anton LaVey if I don’t have to. I also don’t go skinny dipping in manure lagoons for fun. (shrugs)

      Cliff Arroyo’s point about them not understanding might be correct. One of the streamers I watch on youtube had a clip of a girl from the lgbq group in Germany after the attack. In her statement she said three things that make me think Cliff’s point is correct.

      She said it was just one guy and not to blame the whole group for the actions of that one fellow. (To be fair she started with. It is presumed at this time that the suspect is muslim.) She then went on to blame White men, Christianity as a whole, and anyone and everyone on the right wing. Stating they were to blame for the attack.

      The streamer came to the conclusion that nothing can change their minds and they are perfectly willing to die for their beliefs. Now while I am not willing to go that far as we have seen people change their minds. The very thought of this is what they believe never even crossed that girl’s mind. Not once. Which provides proof in my opinion that Cliff’s comment of ‘they aren’t pretending, they actually don’t know’ rings fairly accurate.
