The biggest thing that I cannot forgive the Left is that it liberated some of the worst, meanest impulses of human beings. We all have dark, cruel impulses. It’s a normal part of the human condition, but we’re supposed to fight it. Being civilized means keeping your inner bastard under control. I have a non-tenured colleague who annoys the living daylights out of me, but when I was Chair, I knew that I was her boss and she was dependent on me for her livelihood. I prayed and meditated before every engagement with her, trying to act towards her with the greatest kindness that is possible to me. It took a lot of effort, but I’m proud of never being short-tempered with her.

Leftism made it okay to say the most horrible, cruel things to people for no reason. We have a colleague who is the kindest, sweetest, most helpful man you could possibly imagine. He achieved some stellar things for his program. I once witnessed two female professors casually tell him that he’s “a mediocre white man” who owes his promotion to his race and sex. This wasn’t said in the heat of the moment. I don’t approve of losing your temper, even in the midst of a hardcore fight, but in this situation there was no fight. It was a completely casual conversation. The women had no beef with this man who was in a different program. They were mean to him because they could, because his race and sex, the characteristics over which he has zero control, made it socially acceptable to be nasty to him.

It became normal coldly to say the most terrible things to people because they are white, or male, or “cisgendered”. And not only normal but laudable. The more outrageous the accusations, the more social capital you accumulate. Evan Barker tells about exactly this in her book Nothing Left. People would make insanely unprovoked accusations as a matter of course. And it’s not a passing, short-lived fad. Back in 2014-15, I was told several times to my face, “Ukrainian? Aren’t you guys all Nazis?” This was before I came out as a conservative, and I guess now these people feel completely vindicated. In 2020, I was told by a colleague on campus that I wanted to cause deaths of hundreds of people out of personal convenience. He was unhappy with my decision to teach in person but, surely, an educated person could find other ways to express disagreement. This same colleague was later told he wanted to re-enslave black people because he’s white.

These days he’s obviously exceptional if he got his promotion despite being white.

Right? And he’s also an exceptionally kind and peaceful person. I’m still sore over that situation, and it didn’t even have anything to do with me.

LOL, well, c’mon Kid, you they never try that feminist horseshit amongst anybody except a kind and peaceful man — because considering the effect of AA, he is not only larger, stronger, and faster, but almost certainly far more intelligent ;-D

There was a Soviet-Ukrainian writer, Volodymyr Dudintsev, who hated the USSR, and he said something very similar to this quote. He said that women are always at the front of every bigoted crowd that drags away dissidents to torture them. He was not wrong.

Well, reading Orwell, one notes that he learned some hard lessons in Spain, your writer, no doubt the same. But at some point that female strong in-group behavior was necessary for survival, or the trait would not exist. Today, maybe not so much ;-D

Yes, because Trump and Republicans setting the world ablaze, mismanaging the economy, and setting us down a very dark path of subservience to corrupt and pedophilic oligarchs is any better.

Republicans suck just as much as Democrats, if not more. The jury is still out on what will happen with the economy, but if Republicans kill the economy we’ll have much bigger problems to deal with than tranny or any other social issues.

Oh, and by the way Trump just backtracked on letting Ukraine build Patriot missile interceptors at a time when they need them most. Republicans and Trump are too busy launching them to defend Israel and Arab monarchies in their war of choice against Iran, while Ukraine and our entire pacific theater collapses.

The geopolitical disaster that Trump and Republicans are pushing down our throats is something that we and our children will have to live with. Yes, tranny issues are important, but trust me, this shit that’s happening right now will be far more consequential, stuff where there is no turning back.

Which part of the world has been set ablaze by Republicans and which oligarchs appeared since 2025?

USA is actually incredibly weak right now. We are bogged down in yet another middle east misadventure and using up our dwindling inventory of missiles. Ukraine is suffering because of that, Russia and China are in pure bliss about this. Middle east is on fire because of USA and Israel. Europe, Canada and other close allies are pulling away from the USA either because we keep threatening them or they are realizing the USA cannot guarantee any level of protection any more. It’s weakness all around.

Our economy is being set ablaze. Trump has depleted our strategic petroleum reserves, he has single handily added the most to the national debt of any president, adding $3.56 trillion to the national debt in his second term alone (about to hit $40 trillion dollars), we keep spending like crazy without any end in sight, inflation is ramping up, gas prices are ramping up, everything keeps getting more expensive.

These are real issues that won’t just disappear when Trump finally goes away. Trump will fuck off with his $4+ billion that he has made since he became president (crypto grifting, market manipulation, etc.), but everyone else will be left holding the bag.
