I’m traveling, so I didn’t watch the first day of the RNC. From the snippets I read, I want to hit my head against a wall. I know it was inevitable that Trump would say unnecessary things. The unnecessary things are the price you pay for the good stuff. But the part about giving $5,000 to every American is really unnecessary. It is already impossible to explain to regular people how COVID payouts caused inflation. This is making it worse.

Yes, Biden engaged in the same kind of voter bribery, but so what? It doesn’t mean we need to stoop to the level of Biden. And yes, Trump is a lot more equitable in his voter bribery, promising to reward every American and not specifically his voters, like Biden did. But again, whoop-dee-doo. Even a suggestion of another round of devaluing the dollar gives me a panic attack.
