Since I’m in Spain, here is some heartening Spanish news:
If you’ve got a rented apartment in Spain, congrats
Now it belongs to your tenant
Sánchez dropped a decree that says you can’t raise the rent by more than 2% until 2027. That you also can’t evict them until 2030 if they’ve got nowhere to go. And that the contracts you already had signed get extended two more years, whether you like it or not
The second decree says the tenant can renew forever. If you want your place back, you’ve gotta explain what for, and if you can’t explain it, you pay them compensation to get them to leave (I doubt this one’ll pass Congress)
But hey, no worries, the title’s still in your name. The property tax too.
How is it heartening? Well, the rest of the news is worse.
At this point in time, I don’t understand how anybody can vote for liberal/leftist/whatever they call themselves parties.
