Speaking of not going to the doctor, my mother didn’t have to die. Yes, she was 73, but that’s not ancient. She could have lived. What happened is that she skipped her yearly OB/GYN exams for 20 years until it was stage 4 cancer and too late to do anything. And she lied to me for years, making me think that she went.
Of course, not everything is preventable. But some things are. At least, one should try.
