Post-AI Jobs

People keep posting Harvard data, which says that with merit-based admissions, 48% of students at Harvard would be Asian and only 0.7% would be African American.

But here is what I’m thinking. AI will make many of the jobs for which these Asian students spend their entire childhood and adolescence preparing obsolete. What will be most in demand on the job market is the capacity to be human. Meaning the kind of stuff that AI will never be capable of doing. The caring professions will rule.

And who do you want in a caring role? For example, who would you prefer to attend to you in a retirement home: an African American woman or an Asian one? The answer is obvious. Of course, a black woman who is going to be warm, ebullient, and have a great sense of humor.
