Missouri’s Cows

Some women are so stupid, it’s an embarrassment:

This law exists to make sure that no baby is born without child support from the dad and a custody agreement. Nobody forces these women to live with anybody they don’t want but the law has to protect the children. It’s already a big burden to be born to a pair of miserable fucks who think divorcing during pregnancy is a good idea. So the state mitigates that burden a bit.

Heather (whoever she is) is already a cow but it isn’t Missouri’s fault.

Busybody Relatives

I wonder who the surprise guest is to top Owens. An ISIS fighter clutching a severed head?

This is what happens when people can’t get their family members to pipe down during their campaigns. One still has disturbing memories of Jarvanka sabotaging the first Trump administration, and this is doing everything to make those memories more vivid.

Who Is More Sexist?

I remember how back in 2008 I discovered some really disgusting calumnies about Sarah Palin (whom I always detested) being spread by droves of Democrats. I was then on the Left, and I was very put off by the horrible things people would say about Palin (and more importantly, her Down Syndrome baby) for the sake of progress and women’s rights. I wrote a lot about it back in the day, so I won’t repeat myself. But I have to say I am surprised with the suggestion that Republicans are more likely than Democrats to say extremely sexist things about female politicians.

Here is an example I came across randomly in my Twitter feed just now:

And more:

I detest Boebert’s politics, obviously. But I don’t understand why we are pretending that Republicans have some exceptionally sexist bent when this kind of thing is rampant on social media.

I personally happen to think that politicians should take this in their stride. They are well-compensated, after all. The Palin story bothered me because a disabled baby was involved but Boebert and Harris will very much survive the jokes.

Also, since we are at it, I always was and remain supportive of abortion rights but whoever came up with the idea that “reproductive freedom” should refer only to the right not to have children is no champion of feminism and no friend of women. The female body is devalued and despised quite equally by both sides and only blind partisanship might prevent one from seeing it.

Third-person Humble Brag

Harris has somebody smart on her side. Look at the fake criticisms spread about her:

My feed is littered with this image. It’s everywhere.

This is the third-person version of a humble brag. And an excellent image for a leader to project. It would be a relief if people who understand this ran Harris’s campaign instead of their competitors who are eager to paint her as a tender wallflower incapable of facing an ounce of scrutiny and mockery routinely experienced by male politicians.

Seriously, does nobody notice a contradiction between “she’s ready to stare down Putin and Xi” and “please don’t mention she was an old dude’s mistress and tends to say dumb things in interviews because that’s mean”?

Chechnya’s Win

What many people don’t get is the extent to which Chechnya enslaved Russia in the aftermath of the second Chechen war. Islam has rights in Russia that no other religious belief can hope to acquire.

Embarrassment

Gosh, folks, in Biden’s situation, would you want to show your face in public or would you choose to stay away for a bit? It’s the most normal thing imaginable to want to make oneself scarce after something like this.

Nothing Happening

And that, my friends, is the whole point. Little by little, we all shall end up concluding that national politics is inconsequential. We have collectively engineered a situation where we are trying to prove to ourselves that the nation-state is dead.

It’s not a conspiracy. Nobody consciously decided it. It’s simply what we feel that we need right now. And we are giving it to ourselves.

My July

That’s how my July has been going:

I really get that dude in the car right now.

Vocabulary Drama

The Merriam-Webster dictionary had to delete replies to its popular post and then remove the post altogether.

What is the highly controversial word that commenters kept referencing and that Merriam-Webster couldn’t tolerate?

Americans know the answer but how about everybody else?

The Race to Race-monger

One thing I’m noticing is that race-mongering exploded in the hours since Biden endorsed Harris.

It goes on and on and on. When one imagines four years of this triumphant race-baiting, one begins to wilt. How, how does anybody think it’s a good idea?
