Consistent Beliefs

In addition to what I said in the preceding post, I despise inconsistency. Are you opposed to illegal border crossings? Are you in favor of self-defense? Do you believe that violent attackers deserve to be stopped with violence?

Then stay true to your beliefs. Either a person who crossed a border armed to the teeth and shooting at people deserves to be shot or he doesn’t. Figure it out already and don’t jerk around like a stupid puppet with no coherent worldview. A liberal peacenik who prefers to be raped and killed instead of defending himself deserves more respect than a pretend right-winger who can’t figure out whether it’s ok to kill invading armed hordes.

For those who are ideologically consistent in any direction, here’s today’s video where I’m wearing a new red outfit. Those who are pouting over the dead Russian bastard, don’t you dare look at my video. You don’t deserve it. I don’t get paid for this work and couldn’t care less about views.

Toxic Empathy

There’s a video making the rounds of a Russian soldier being hunted down by a Ukrainian drone. A bunch of congenital weaklings are whining about it on social media. They prefer not to notice that Russians have been hunting with drones Ukrainian civilians, children, old people, mothers with babies, posting videos online, and celebrating them in droves. This practice is called “a human safari” and only yesterday the UN finally recognized that it’s s crime against humanity. There are hundreds of videos documenting this.

The people Russians hunt with drones aren’t invading hordes. They are civilians living in their own country. Aside from the Russian human safari, there are thousands of videos of unarmed Ukrainian POWs being tortured, raped and killed. Civilians being gang raped and murdered. Small children, infants being raped and mutilated. None of that awakened any feeling in the crowd that’s upset over the hunted down Russian invader.

I call these people weaklings because they don’t dare openly to say that they support Russia. Even (some) FreePalestiners have the strength to say they support Hamas and despise the Western civilization. But the pro-Russian weaklings don’t even have the guts to say what they actually think. All of the people I saw whining over this video online are men. They have been so feminized that they mask their beliefs behind fake, slobbering emotionality.

Trump’s TACO

Unfortunately, it’s not untrue. We’ve all seen Trump do a TACO with DOGE. Nobody even talks about it anymore. We’ll see it with Harvard, too, soon enough.

It’s like first-term Trump is battling second-term Trump and mostly winning.

What a Guy Did

The image didn’t load at once, and I wondered what it was that a guy did TO her best friend. I suspected some sort of a perversion from the outraged tone of the tweet.

Then the image loaded.

I personally think it’s mega cute. What these women are bitching about is a mystery. The guy is making an effort, expressing himself clearly, not offering anything degrading like a “situationship” or whatever they call it.

N, by the way, declared the nature of his interest in me very clearly and specifically on our first date. No dessert was involved because I don’t like it but I truly appreciated the clarity of what he was pursuing. This was 18 years ago next week, and I still treasure that memory.

What’s Left?

I can’t assign essays or compositions because of AI.

I can’t assign oral presentations and exams because there are students who suffer from anxiety.

I can’t assign readings, use PowerPoints, or even gesticulate because one student is blind.

I can’t give lectures because one student is deaf and we don’t have an interpreter from Spanish into sign language.

Can anybody explain to me how I’m supposed to teach?

Stay Logical

You cannot be opposed to this and simultaneously think that racial disparities in academic outcomes are a result of social conditions. Either these disparities are biological, and it makes no sense to engineer them away through policy. Or they are not biological and are caused by external factors, which makes such policies reasonable. Pick your position and stay within the bounds of logic.

Mission Accomplished

Not to give in to a facile temptation to rhyme but David Cole hit his goal. And in only a few days instead of a month like he thought. This goes to show that people are desperate for quality books of right-wing persuasion. And generous.

This is very heartening.

Alternative Plans

I very sincerely can’t think of anything more fun, attractive and enjoyable than helping raise one’s own grandchildren. I wonder what it is that this woman is planning to do instead.

By the way, my daughter is named after my grandmother because she couldn’t find anything more fun to do either.

What it is that people actually do that is more pleasant than being with their grandchildren?

Strange People

Klara and I walked the hiking trail carrying a pink make-up refrigerator. Well, I was carrying it, obviously.

People we met along the trail kept trying to guess what we were carrying.

“Is it a bread-maker?” one man asked. “Are you baking bread?”

“Is it a mini safe?” asked another.

“Such strange people,” Klara said with the perfect superciliousness of a nine-year-old. “Why would we walk around the lake with a bread-maker or a safe?”

In case you are wondering why we were carrying a non-functioning makeup refrigerator, that’s because we needed it to carry our markers in it, of course. Why did we need markers on a hiking trail and why did they have to be in a pink make-up refrigerator? Have you ever been nine? Think back to that time, and you’ll have your answer.

A Great Voice Artist

Speaking of Russian, you know how I almost never read in Russian, right? But I discovered a Russian voice artist who is the most talented dude ever. I know I say this a lot but really, this voice artist is totally out there. His name is Ivan Litvinov, and he’s so popular, he’s done over 400 books.

I’m completely addicted to this guy’s voice to the point that N has started to get jealous. I have no idea what is it that has such a hypnotic effect on me in the actor’s reading. It’s not anything from my childhood because I never knew anybody with this kind of pronunciation. But I’m listening to one book after another.

If you are a Russian speaker, do check out his books. He’s done every genre, and I’m sure you can find something to your liking. I’ve listened to his recording of Mikhail Veller’s novel An Island for Whites. Now I’m ploughing through the Jo Nesbø series, and enjoying the books grandly because of the voice artist’s talent, even if the translation is sometimes clumsy. I’m quite confident that the translator was translating from English based on the mistakes I catch.
