People, did you see this super fun campaign tool that Obama’s presidential campaign came up with? It’s called “The Life of Julia” and it shows how one woman’s life would change for the worse if Romney were elected (which is very obviously not going to happen but, still, the tool is fun). There is nothing about how “In spite of being very careful, Julia falls pregnant and decides to manage her own body and terminate the unwanted pregnancy” , but we all know it should be there.

Here it is.

P.S. I did not know Obama’s healthcare plan provided for free prenatal care. Wow. That’s amazing. Now, who really cares about fetuses?

I also liked the assistance to small businesses because I’m a huge fan of them.

Finally, the Obama campaign is doing something right.

    The only problem with this is that Obama can’t (and won’t) be president for all of Julia’s life. It would make more sense to show different women at these same stages of life, so it wouldn’t look like Obama is vying for a 50+ year dictatorship.

    Don’t get me wrong. I love Obama. I voted for him in 2008 and will vote for him again. But there are some flaws in this particular marketing tool, IMHO. Using one person’s narrative indicates that the implications of having Obama as president for four more years is going to have a positive impact on this person’s entire life, which is just not necessarily true. Using different women would have made the point that Obama is good for women much more clearly.

      OK, I didn’t think about this. 🙂 You are right, though, it does look like he is getting elected for the rest of our lives. And, actually, this approach of “the world begins and ends with my presidency” is a little disturbing.

      I think the campaign is aimed at unobservant people like me. 🙂

    Well one way to interpret this campaign is that the Obama Presidency will help women of all ages. So perhaps a better way to frame this ad would be to show different women at different ages, and how Obama’s plan will help them, as opposed to showing the same woman at all stages in her life.
