This is the view from our hotel room in St. Louis. Many people consider our tradition of spending weekends on a regular basis in St.Louis hotels to be strange, given that we live so close to the city.
I have to tell you, however, that every such little trip that breaks the routine and is adventurous and refreshing takes the relationship to a new level.
It’s smart money-management, too, because a marriage counselor down the way would cost a lot more than such happy and romantic interludes. And a marriage counselor is definitely less fun.

When I first decided to move out of Florida I picked St. Louis as a destination. I don’t know why; I’d never been there. I think because it is more or less in the middle of the country. I ended up in Virginia.

Have you ever stayed in the Union Station Marriot? The reception hall is grand. St. Louis is a beautiful city and if it ever recovers economically it will be once again a destination to travel to.

There was a conference going on at the hotel at the same time, so I combined work and rest. Good times!

I’m a big-city person forced to live in a small town. I need to visit real cities from time to time. Seeing even more small towns will just depress me.

I do this just for me, also. Have various places to go nearby. And just reserved this http://www.hotelbaluarte.com.mx/ to be followed by this http://www.tlaco.com.mx/casadelrio/index.htm and then this http://www.hotelvirreynal.com/ … before getting to the DF and work and more modest circumstances. So: keep on with those weekends!

It took me a while to put my finger on why I find it strange. Why don’t you go other places? Pere Marquette, IL; New Harmony, IN; Cahokia Mounds; and Springfield, IL all are near St. Louis and are nice places to visit for a weekend.
