I also wanted to share with you a photo of my owl ring that I bought in the Dominican Republic. People everywhere start shrieking with delight when they see it.
The great Russian poet Marina Tsvetaeva collected silver rings. She lived and died in the most dire poverty imaginable but, during the times when she had some money, she had boxes filled with unusual weirdly shaped silver rings that she gave as gifts by the handful to people she liked.
I also love my weird silver rings. People even refer to me as “the prof with the rings.”

Many Harry Potter fans would be very excited about the owl ring too!
(Owls carry mail in HP world, and Harry has from the 1st book his owl Hedwig as a beloved pet, even friend.)

I’m a little too ancient for Harry Potter but I’m glad I will look cool to that crowd. 🙂 🙂

OH MY GOSH THAT’S LOVELY!!
I’m also a huge fan of large, unique-looking rings; I have a brass scarab that I’m particularly enamored of. (I also had a silver snake ring that my grandmother had bought in Mexico, that I wore until it broke).
(This is my scarab. Maybe I’ll take a picture of it on my hand and post that on my own blog.)

Thank you. 🙂
I now want to buy the scarab. I’d wear it during exams to intimidate students. Or better yet, to intimidate administrators. 🙂 🙂

I did it: I posted some photos of myself (well, my hand anyway) wearing the ring.

It looks really great on the finger. I like the way the band is covered with a beautiful design. And it’s so flat! I didn’t expect that.
A beautiful ring.
