“I don’t think it makes sense for me to read your blog,” N says pensively. “Whenever I read it, I see the exact same stuff you tell me every day in person.”

“Wouldn’t it be kind of creepy if you went to the blog and discovered that you never heard any of it before?”

N thought about it and agreed that it’s better to hear the same story twice than to discover you are living with a stranger.

Does your partner read your blog or Facebook page?

He dips in from time to time, but he’s more into reading motorbike/geopolitical news. I think he likes to keep tabs but it’s not really his type of reading.

He never goes on FB which he considers a boring waste of time except to keep in contact with certain people.

My wife, Marjorie, reads each one of my columns and offers editing comments. Not infrequrntly i make changes on the basis of these contributions. Philosophically, she does not always agree with me and that also is very helpful because it alertsa me to the likely reactions of readers who do not share my approach.

It is difficult for me to imagine a household where one partner has no interest in the daily thoughts of the other and where the blogger does not want his/her partner to participate.

My husband sees my facebook updates in his news feed, but I don’t think he seeks it out. When I was blogging regularly, he usually didn’t read my blog– and his reasons were similar to the ones N expressed for not reading yours.

If I have a partner some day, it will be in part because of her interest for my blog and that would be more important that the macho-slave pseudo-requirement to fuck only with me.

“You can sleep with other people. But if you read another person’s blog. . . we are over!”

That’s a very reasonable position to take, I think. 🙂

Of course, she could read other blogs, no problem on this!

Bah, if she would like a Conservative blogger, it would be a problem! 😉

So, why is it useful to N. to read your blog? You never answered this question; it was merely a springboard for a tangential discussion. It seems to me that his comment is perfectly valid.

He always reads it before he has to write an article in English because he says it helps him improve his writing style.

My hubby reads my blog and FB stuff. We frequently have witty conversations on FB, which makes our FB friends think our relationship is perfect. They are woefully deceived. However, it’s getting better than it was, and no matter what, we are best friends.
