Just tell me what kind of a weird individual falls down while walking slowly in front of her house in a wide, well-lit street that hasn’t seen any ice for years and while wearing super-comfortable shoes with non-existent heels?

And what kind of a strange person scrapes her leg in the fall so badly that she draws blood and now has trouble walking and even getting into her own bed?

And what kind of bizarre creature does all this the day before she has to return to the classroom?

Yes, that would be me.

Sounds like the sort of thing I would do. Remember to RICE: Rest, Ice, Compress, and Elevate the injury.

I was running in the gym, during the warmup, on a very hot day at the end of the week. I wasn’t lifting my feet and I tripped over my big toe. Now I always make sure to lift my feet, especially when very tired.

Didn’t I tell you about the time I went walking home from school and broke my ankle along the way? My professor described it as “I was thinking globally, not locally” – sounds about right.
