Wanting and Wishing

“Whatever you wish for always comes true. And if it feels like it doesn’t come true, it still does. And if it seems like what happens is not what you wished for, quit kidding yourelf: this is exactly what you wished for.”

Alexander Blok (Russian Modernist poet).

  2. Bok is ridiculous on this point — fatuous, falsely “insightful,” manipulative. Hurricanes, earthquakes, disease, starvation, strife, imprisonment, having your children die in infancy, torture, etc., I deny people wish for these things.

    1. Blok was a Modernist. He offered an insight for an individual’s analysis of one’s own life. Modernists don’t generally care to make pronouncements on the fate of humanity at large. This was written in a personal letter to a friend.
