Daily, I thank God in my prayers for growing up in an environment where it never occurred to anybody to visit any religious services or take me to visit them.

I’m kind of grateful for the same thing (though it was more a matter of indifference than planning or conviction in my family).
The good thing is that I was never stopped from going to sunday school or church sponsored stuff. If anything I was (weakly) encouraged in my half-hearted attempts to acquire religious faith – but it never took and I was pretty conclusively done with it by my teens.
