Oh, That Controlling Burberry!

OK, I have found an absolute winner. In all the years of my teaching, this is the best ever:

From the XIth century on, most of the Iberian Peninsula was controlled by the Almoravids and the Almohads who were Burberry. These Burberries waged constant warfare against each other and the Iberian Christians.

Tell me this is not the best.

I don’t think I can continue grading after this. I’m afraid of what I might find.

  1. Does it stand for Barbarians?

    I found only:
“Burberry Group plc is a British luxury fashion house”
not the expected “Blueberries are perennial flowering plants with indigo-colored berries”

  2. Autocorrect is the best. Also, would booze help you interpret stuff like that as very, very funny instead of disheartening? I’d offer to send you the other half of my wine but a) it kinda sucks as far as wine goes and b) it doesn’t transfer easily over the internet.

  3. By far the best!!!

I only had two gems this year, and in language clases:

    1) stepmother became “gordamenastra.” I think “gordamenastra” is a wonderful word for stepmother so I only took half a point off for the mistake.
    2) Los pájaros están en las sucursales del árbol.
