Nobody understands why I fret as much as I do about the possibility of a default. I have every reason to worry, though. My profession is a luxury that only a very rich society can afford. Currently, there is just one such society remaining in the world. I want it to keep affording me.

The Republican Party Congressional Commitee and the big business donors to the Republican Party need to make a credible threat to defeat all of the Tea Party obstructionists by any means necessary at the next primary election. Boehner is an idiot for not having pulled out the finance threats earlier in the process. Right now, the Democratic Party is more pro-business than the Republican Party.

Tea Partiers are too limited intellectually even to understand such considerations. I’ve been wondering why big business hasn’t been pressuring Boehner more harshly.
