“The Place Where We Are Right”

“The Place Where We Are Right”
by Yehuda Amichai

“From the place where we are right
Flowers will never grow
In the spring.

The place where we are right
Is hard and trampled
Like a yard.

But doubts and loves
Dig up the world
Like a mole, a plow.
And a whisper will be heard in the place
Where the ruined
House once stood.”

I haven’t been this touched by a poem in years.

  1. Wow Clarissa! I woke up very early this morning thinking on the reason and meaning of the poem. Never thought that you were so spiritually inclined. Surprise!. This is what I found searching more on the poem. See below. Different people seem to have different interpretations except that virtually all of them look like ” grieving people”. Mah!
