Another thing I don’t get is why people use the pre-fabricated tests from the online version of the textbook. I mean, what can be more fun than creating your own tests for the courses your teach?
I always create 2 versions of each test: a practice run and the actual test. And I have great fun doing it. Why would I let an online textbook usurp this activity?
This is a very good question. I also don’t get why some professors will not adopt a textbook that doesn’t come with a set of prefab Power Point lectures. This I find really offensive; using a prefab test I find just to be sad.

Ugh, I really don’t see the point of prefab lectures. I want to be in control of my classroom, I want to adapt the lecture to each specific group. Prefabricated PPs will rob all the joy from teaching.

Today I consolidated my view on the alleged “flipped” classroom. Students say that when class is spent doing homework, and homework time is spent passively watching a videotaped lecture, they are never asked to actually do anything themselves, nor do they get the chance to actually absorb material.
