One day I was in a fury about homeschooling and typed in “homeschooling is child abuse” (or something along those lines) in to Google and found your post. It was already an old post by the time I found it but it was the first time I ever read anybody who just wholeheartedly critiqued homeschooling. It was so refreshing and unhibited that I kept reading! 🙂

I had contributed anonymously to a “don’t go to grad school” post on The Professor is In’s blog, and followed the pingback in the comment thread to a “Link Encyclopedia” that was pretty negative about the post. I thought, “who IS this person?” and read a few posts to find out. The blog stuck in my mind a few months later when I had a student who I suspected was on the autism spectrum and I came back looking for insights on how to meet his learning needs. Found lots of other stuff here and added it to my blogreader.

There was a post on womanist musings a long time ago about a white woman who described being admonished by her black boyfriend for not being racially sensitive. Forgot the exact situation, but you chimed in the comments and said that if any boyfriend of yours talked down to you the way her boyfriend did, you’d immediately leave him. This comment was a departure from all the other comments that only focused on the racial angle (we should strive to be more sensitive, check your privilege, etc.). You got into a heated argument with the blog owner, the author of that particular post, and a few other commentators. Jolly good fun it was! I clicked on your name over there, found your blog, and haven’t left since.
Haven’t been able to find that post. Google search on the blog gives too many results for generic search terms.

a couple of years ago I mostly surfed around places for gamers, electronics engineering hobbyists and programmers. There was some shitstorm, something comparable to donglegate which lead me to, amonst others, either Jezebel or Feministing.
I browsed a bit and found a link in the comments to your blog. I don’t remember if you linked to it yourself or it was someone else, but the comment stood out from the rest of the snarky echo chamber that these sites call comment sections, in that it was a lot… more blunt i guess.
I read a couple of posts on your blog and at first I found your writing incredible obnoxious and annoying. Looking back at this, it was probably because I was a recent inductee to the world of online feminism and wanting to be one of the gooooooood guys and not one of those creepy crawly comp-sci nerds.
I also thought that Jezebel and Feministing were good and respectful representations of feminism, so please excuse the slip of good judgement 😉
It took a while until I found my way to your blog again and decided to stick around this time.

That’s pretty much how it went for me, too. With an added bonus of omfg yes finally when I started reading the feminism posts and realized that part of the problem I had with English-language feminism was that it relied on gender stereotypes mostly alien to my experience.
