I can never find a pedicurist who’d make me happy because pedicurists tend to be very chatty and their favorite subject to chat about is how my toenails are unreasonably small. I, of course, prefer to think of them as dainty and don’t welcome criticism of them.
Why aren’t there any churlish pedicurists who don’t want to talk and don’t make me feel like a weirdo with freakishly small toenails?
Normally, when I want to make people stop talking I do what I call “channeling my inner Russian”, but in view of recent events that seems unpatriotic.
So I’m blogging instead and pretending I’m writing super important work emails.

I NEVER have conversations during a pedicure or manicure! I tend to go t nail salons that are populated by non native English speakers. (Not on purpose. It’s just who runs the nail salons in my neighborhood.) And since their English is limited, they are just as happy to not speak English. I also immediately close my eyes the minute I get in to the pedicure chair. So that might influence things too. 🙂

Yeah, I rarely have spoken with the person doing my nails. I usually have a book or my iPhone going, so it’s a signal that I don’t really want to chatter. I don’t really like talking to hair dressers either, but then, I’ve been cutting my own hair for a while now, so I don’t even have to worry about it any more.
