A charitable organization in Montreal conducted a “Stop the Hunger” function the day before yesterday. The function consisted solely of an enormous free feast, serving foie gras, mountains of expensive delicacies, and endless supplies of alcohol.
The charitable organization in question reached its goal of saving a group of wealthy people from hunger.
And this is why I hate nobody more than professional charity givers.
Why hate the givers and not the organization? They came up with this bourgeois display of arrogance and ignorance.

Of course, I meant the organization. This is why I called them “professional charity givers.” These people get paid hundreds of thousands of dollars. Even their secretaries are paid anywhere up to a quarter million. I actually know one such secretary.
The whole phenomenon is beyond shameful.

Nothing new, sadly

I know, but still the cynicism of the whole thing is just overwhelming.

Sure. Charity is what people do to appease their consciences when they are continuously taking away in other regards.

Here it wasn’t even about appeasing. It was just gluttony that had to make itself even more in-your-face by running under the slogan of ending hunger.

There was a funny interaction recently in Australian politics where Chris Ludlam, the new Greens senator was invited by one of the opposition members to go on a sleep out for hunger, and he wrote back saying he was more interested in opposing the legislation the person inviting him wanted to introduce into law which would cause massive poverty and hunger.
It was a very polite letter.
Here is more on the senator:
