Two Ukrainians are talking.

“My friend why do you keep reading these Russian blogs?”

“Well, when I read Ukrainian blogs it’s all about how the Ukrainian army is full of traitors, Maidan has been betrayed, the Ukrainian president is a loser, and Russia won’t stop invading. But when I read Russian blogs, it’s all about how the NATO troops are fighting on Ukraine’s side, the CIA is giving tons of money to Ukraine, Ukrainian troops are about to take Moscow, and Russia is on the brink of extinction. What’s not to like?”

The Russians (on Facebook, at least, if not in blogs) seem to be all over conspiracy theories about how flight MH 17 was really the plane that disappeared a few months ago, and filled with corpses. In the Ukrainian civil war, as in most of the others going on now, all sides are full of bullshit. What worries me is that, as we remember the beginning of WW1 a century ago, the same kind of belligerent rhetoric that led to that disaster is being spouted by politicians everywhere. They all seem to want to fight. They all want to facilitate conflict instead of trying to resolve conflict.
