Laid-back

The organizers of the Oxford conference want to make it as laid-back, relaxed, and informal as possible. With that goal, they are sending us endless emails with lists of rules that are supposed to keep the whole thing laid-back. Not a single thing remains unscripted and uncontrolled in this search for relaxation.

      “It’s a helicopter conference!”

      • Exactly. 🙂 They seem to think we all suffer from retardation and need to have detailed instructions if we are to keep ourselves upright.

Have you seen the “jazz hands” thing from Oxford yet?

I know you say you don’t drink alcohol, but at this rate, you might actually need an alcoholic scrumpy cider or two … 🙂

Hypocritical feminists…. the “jazz hands” are actually known as “Deaf applause” which (at least American) Deaf people have been using for decades.

In other words…. Appropriation! The despicable ablist feminists are appropriating a disadvantaged group’s culture.

I refuse to be offended, but instead merely amused, and shall live forever …

I still can’t get over the jazz hands melodrama, to be honest. People are too weird.
