Cutting

At this stage of working on my book, there is a lot more cutting than writing. It’s sad to have to cut but it’s also a good sign. It means that the end is in sight.

      1. The cut material still might be useful later in another format (part of a lecture, article, etc.). So it might be a good idea to label it and file it away for future retrieval.

  1. Sometimes when I’ve been working on books, I like to “kill my darlings” by assembling the left-out pages into a collage that I bring with me to America …

That’s where I can share in the fun of “killing my darlings” with the help of some friends at a local gun range where we can rent automatic small arms.

Some forms of radical editing are more enjoyable than others. 🙂
