I hope that Mizzou students have something to say about this hate crime committed by one of their faculty members. The department that hired and retained this woman-hater must be held accountable for its bizarre hiring practices. The administration should explain how it was possible that somebody who hates women this much was allowed to poison the campus environment for so long. I’m hoping to see a wave of protests, sit-ins and student demands about this hate crime.

This is the first time I’m seeing him described as an Assistant Professor. The last article I read he was a graduate student. I don’t know which is correct. His Linkedin page lists him as an Assistant Prof but that may be an exaggeration.
It’s still horrible either way of course. But I think U of Missouri bears less responsibility if he’s a student.

He calls himself an Assistant Professor, and I don’t like to dispute people’s self-appellations.
In any case, if students engage in massive protests over slurs by passersby who don’t belong to the university at all, somebody who actually teaches on campus is obviously a huge reason to protest against.

According to the link below, U of Missouri says he was a grad student (and so taught classes in that capacity) but as of July has no official connection to the school.
I’m not sure what he was doing on campus. But if he was neither a student nor a professor at the time, I’m not sure there is anything to protest (and the victim was too young to be a student.)

Crowds of students protested because somebody yelled some unpleasant comment at them while they were somewhere in the vicinity of campus. Other crowds of students protested because somebody’s wife wrote an email.
Surely, this is a bit more serious than all that. This is a predator who had a free rein on campus. If he hates women so much, the likelihood that he wasn’t victimizing women while at Mizzou is nil. At the very least, this should be investigated.

It is entirely possible that he regards women as property and would respect property rights and thus not attack or victimize women who are not his relative, whereas he feels morally responsible for the behaviour of female relatives. This is an even worse possibility, in some sense, but it means that very likely other women whom he encountered on campus are/were safe from overt harm.

All of this should be investigated. I’m yet to meet one of these hijab-fanatics who don’t treat all women as absolutely garbage. I lived among them for years, and it was a taxing experience.

I am almost 100% sure nobody would notice, even if he were a (not Assistant) professor. It’s not like he committed a microaggression against one of students, after all. Some liberals may mention that hijab is liberating, we should respect all cultures and it was a Muslim family matter.

I know the Far-Right noise machine is reporting him as an assistant professor, and I know that this person has described himself as an assistant professor. But I’m not seeing any evidence that he’s actually a professor.
Also, he has been arrested and charged with child abuse. I’m not sure what purpose protesting would serve. Protesting is something we do when we want action to be taken. Action has been taken.

- How about asking the university to investigate the environment of hatred and victimization this freak must have surely created at the department where he taught? If it’s OK to ask the university to do something about a random pickup truck passing students in the street whose passenger yelled out an insult, surely it’s OK to ask it to do something about the practice of hiring woman-haters to work with students.
And I got to say, I really love it how you lead with “the Far-Right noise machine.” A child was brutalized for the only crime of being a woman, and that’s not something that should be discussed? Should the shooting at Planned Parenthood not be discussed either since the shooter was arrested? Only “the Far-Right noise machine” can possibly care to discuss crimes where an arrest has been made? Talking about strawman arguments, this is classic.

It is, however, very busy on the personal relationship drama between a couple of porn stars…. and apparently smartphone feminists are now in favor of convicting rapists on the word of women alone (no investigation or trial is apparently needed).

- I missed this story but I imagine it’s no great loss. I’ve spent the last two days trying to get through yet another completely ridiculous Title IX course online and if I hear the word “consent” again this week, I’ll throw up. I’m all for consent but I’m a middle-aged, very married and very busy woman. I don’t need another lecture on “good touching vs bad touching.”

There is zero interest in the story, as far as I can see. The boy with the clock got an enormous amount of coverage while a girl of the same age who WAS BEATEN gets none. The boy suffered unpleasantness, obviously, and that’s not OK. But the girl was beaten. That’s obviously more serious.
So what does our progressive, Western society tells us? That it values Muslim boys and Muslim girls as differently as the most retrograde Muslim governments. And there is not a peep from any of our so-called feminists.

It is not about gender. If this girl was spit on or o/w insulted for wearing a hijab, you would read angry articles on feminist blogs and elsewhere. If she were a hijabi or niquab-wearing student, whose professor said one word about showing face in class or during exam, U students would probably protest. And feminists would definitely write 1000 articles on the issue.
What happened with her goes against the narrative of Muslim minorities being oppressed by evil Westerners because of their different culture. Since their favorite narratives don’t fit, liberals, feminists and students are ignoring the story.
I am sure quite a few of students honestly won’t understand your idea of protesting because of it. Better organize another “Muslim Challenge.”

Everything is about gender. Just consider about the idea that is insistently and obsessively transmitted here: boys invent clocks, girls wear head dresses. We are a university, Muslim women who have impressive intellectual achievements can easily be found. But it doesn’t occur to anybody to do that. Even the well-meaning professors reduce Muslim women to a piece of fabric. Nobody does anything like “Muslim men are people who wear turbans”, on the other hand. And I’m supposed to believe that this is accidental? Not a chance.
This, of course, doesn’t invalidate your point about the obsession of the so-called progressives with pitying “pathetic minorities.” But even in this process of pitying they accord more respect and dignity to men.

It’s just one more sign that the liberal press is interested ONLY in stories that can be told from a pro-Muslim, anti-Western partisan viewpoint.
The “progressive” websites (and that includes all U.S. feminist blogs) would never dare criticize misbehavior by ANY Muslim of either gender* — that would be showing white privilege and racism.
*unless they can find a Republican Muslim, of course.

Would this animal have beaten a boy for not wearing a hijab? Obviously not. So it’s insane to claim this isn’t about gender. It’s precisely the incapacity to see that this is about nothing other than gender that causes the problem here.

Of course, it’s about gender to the beaten girl. My point, and el’s (I believe, but can’t speak for him) is that the story isn’t about gender TO THE LIBERAL PRESS.
If a white, non-Muslim man had beaten a Muslim girl for wearing a hijab, this would be the lead article on every progressive and feminist website in the U.S.

These idiots. They can’t even say the word “women.” Note how it’s violence against “Palestinians” not “violence against Palestinian women.”
American feminists today are terrified of the word “women.” Their faces scrounge up weirdly when they are forced to say it.
That’s why I’m now a lot more sympathetic to radical feminism. For rad fems, there is no Palestinian or Israeli, no Ukrainian or Russian. There are only women. And that’s very refreshing.
