Russians selected Angela Merkel their Woman of the Year.
There’s hardly anything worse anybody can say about Merkel.
The runners-up will not be recognizable to non-Russian speakers but they make a very pathetic, offensive company for Merkel.

Their ‘man of the year’ is Putin. Well, Markel and Putin are the Russian couple of the year – isn’t that a really dubious compliment for a leader of a democratic country? I think that even being mentioned in the same context with the KGB dictator is not good. Poor Frau Angela!

Merkel got TIME MAGAZINE’s “Person of the Year” award, too –but this year for a change, hardly anybody in America paid any attention to that award because of all the completing dramatic news events.
